== Background ==
'''F-Crew''' was founded by [[Bazz]], [[Mike]] and [[Wakey]] back in round 1 while sitting in the local McDonalds. [[Bazz]] and [[Mike]] had just been introduced to [[Planetarion]] by [[Wakey]] and together they quickly realised they weren't the only ones at their 6th Form College to be playing this new game. So F-Crew was born with the goal to serve these people, although it quickly became an alliance to serve the whole Farnborough Community.

The alliances turning point came at the start of our second week with the application of [[Seventh]] to join our ranks. While he wasnt from Farnborough he was from just down the road and from here on the requirement to be a resident of Farnborough was dropped. This obviously saw a change in F-Crews aims, these new aims somewhat mirrored those of [[IPC]]'s which quickly led to the two alliances forming a friendship that would pretty much last until [[IPC]] disbanded its PA operations in Round 10.5, after playing that round with their members under the F-Crew tag.

== Rounds ==

F-Crew has had a turbulant history, from its glory days where it was fighting tooth and nail with [[Concordium]] to the dark days after P2P and pre-[[Round 10|PAX]]. Below is a brief description of some of the important events in F-Crew History.

=== Round 1 ===

When '''F-Crew''' entered the game all the main alliances present in the game were based round the [[Clusters]]. Some of them were starting to but [[F-Crew]] were one of the first alliances to start up without a cluster alliance at its base.

Life started slowly for '''F-Crew''' with our requirement for members having to live in Farnborough holding us back but once [[Seventh]] was accepted and our rules relaxed the alliance sprung into life. By the end of the round we were pushing 300 members.

On the war front the round was fairly quite. There were a couple of small squirmishes but nothing significant.

=== Round 2 ===

With the membership numbers at a level that was beyond anything that was envisioned a new membership structure was introduced. While [[Bazz]], [[Mike]] and [[Wakey]] remained in HC positions the rest of the alliance was placed into wings in an attempt to make things easier to manage and to allow the alliance to work more effectively.

Each wing consisted of between 18 and 22 members with a Team Leader overseeing them. The Team Leaders were :-

The makeup of the teams was fairly complex. The teams were split firstly by mission focus with half the teams being defence based and half attack based. These groups were then split further so that some were “daytime” teams and others were “nightime” teams. Additionally each group had a couple of “Special Forces” and these teams could be raised at a moments notice. Assignment to the teams started by placing the more experienced players into the teams to provide the core with the new and inexperienced players then being assigned to the relevant teams.

[[Round 2]] started with a bang. Almost immediately a small but organised alliance called the [[Sulla]] alliance started to attack our members. With a new feature of [[Alliance Tags]] being introduced for [[Round 2]] it made the Intel side of the game extremely simple and the new wing system in place the threat was quickly neutralised.

The dust had barely settled when a major war appeared on the horizon. Suddenly [[F-Crew]] noticed an unusual amount of incoming [[Concordium]]. With no official declarion of war from coming from [[Concordium]], [[Wakey]] confronted [[Jonka]] and was informed it wasn’t an alliance attack but some members doing their own thing. When the attacks continued [[Wakey]] twice more confronted [[Jonka]] who again stated it was not an official attack. Finally on the 4th time of asking [[Jonka]] admitted that [[Concordium]] were at war with [[F-Crew]]

A chance encounter between [[Bazz]] and the high command of the newly formed [[UXF]] alliance made it clear that [[F-Crew]] weren’t the only alliance that [[Concordium]] had declared war on and the two alliances started discussions about how they could work together to fight a common enemy.

[[Concordium]]’s structure was the main roadblock in any plans to fight them. Not only did anyone attacking them have the main alliance to deal with but they would also have to deal with their Internal Wing [[Legion]], their junior wing [[WaCjr]] and their strong allies [[TE]]. It was decided that if there was to be any chance of success then additional alliances would need brought into the fold.

Upon approaching long term allies [[IPC]] and [[New Dawn]] a parallel plot to take down [[Concordium]] was uncovered. This was being organized by [[Zeus]] in an attempt to liven the game up. The two plans were merged and invites were extended to [[BlueTuba]], [[hirr]], [[SK]] and [[Rhinoas_Eclipse]]. This left all the perceived top alliances but [[BlueTuba]] who declined the invite, on the brink of war. There was a lot of debate about inviting [[Fury]] who hadn’t yet shown their potential and initially they weren’t included in the preparations although at the end they were invited to attack [[TE]] in an attempt to prevent them retaliating on behalf of [[Concordium]].

* The Farnborough Crew was never intended to be the alliance's name. It was a temporary name used as a site title placeholder but it stuck.
* The shortened name of F-Crew didnt appear until Round 3 and was a product of an alliance-wide compitition to make the alliance name edgier.
* F-Crew is the longest running alliance having been created in Round 1.
* F-Crew is also the only alliance to have played every round uninterrupted.
* [[Wakey]] is one of the few Round 1 veterans to have only been a member of a single alliance.
* [[Wakey]] still hasn't finished the new [[F-Crew]] site
* F-crew broke HC [[Cm]]'s curse whereby every alliance before disbanded within 1 round of him joining

===Pre-Pax===

NewDawn, founded near the end of [[round 1]] by [[Sith]] & [[Stez]], has played every round of Planetarion and has often been represented in top blocks and rankings. ND's philosophy is "fun first" which has led to a strong and active community.

Through building a strong core in [[round 1]], ND became an elite alliance in [[round 2]] with the highest average score until the [[WaC]]-war. Cooperation with [[SK]] and [[F-Crew]] went wrong, the war was lost which left ND effectively dead.

In that period there was a power struggle between Coffee and Sith/Stez and the ND core decided to create a new alliance to be called 'Inexorabilis', in which some of the best players from all major alliances at the time would be involved . It seemed to have a bright future ahead and even before the end of round 2 there was active networking on forums & in channels. Unfortunately the attempt was undermined by traitors and with this failure, a great part of the old core decided to reinstitute ND, with people like [[Odoric]], [[Canker]], [[Sith]], [[Stew]] and [[Myrdhin]] in command.
This round was also the round when the ND battlecalc was created by Odoric. A downloadable, ace battlecalc which was used by 90% of all planetarion players, best compared to thrud's calc now.

Early [[round 3]] featured a good start but some old command folks went inactive near the end of the round and some of the new command (eg aviendha, ashknight) lacked loyalty, leaving for DoM (a legion recruitment alliance) and undermining ND's efforts.

In [[round 4]] ND began with two inactive HC and only 10-12 people in the private channel. New people stepped up to the command though, including [[Hardball]], [[Jellinek]], [[Buly]], [[Riddim]], [[Myrdhin]] and later on [[Orange]] and El-Cura or [[cura]].
ND survived one of its worst rounds. With a new website, competent commanders & recruitment picking up, NewDawn was ready to go into round 5 as a real force once again.

In these days the first recruitment alliance of ND was created, called [[TheRising]]. TheRising was created to be able to recruit more people without compromising the security and it recruited quite a few people that later became part of the ND core.

The [[Furgion]] cartel dominated [[round 5]], forcing ND to cooperate with [[Xanadu]] with whom they had held good ties since r1. This cooperation allowed growth; mergers with [[ICD]] and [[YHQ]] added enough players and allowed ND to compete as a respectable power once again.

[[Round 6]] was coloured by the entrance of [[Colcarpenter]], former [[YHQ]] leader. Colcarp left ND later due to differences with the old ND core, but he remains a positive influence in ND's history. Around this time [[Barrow]] and [[Shooter16]] joined the command. Politically round 6 was the round of [[FoS]], [[XeTa]] and [[FLTV]]. ND were a major player in Fusion of Six, or 'FoS' in an attempt to break the power of [[FLTV]] who were finally beaten by [[FoS]]-[[XeTa]], ending the worst period of stagnation in PA history. After that, [[FoS]]-[[XeTa]] cooperation ended to prevent further stagnation, allowing [[FLTV]] to make a resurgence.

===PaX & Beyond===

In PaX, NewDawn was able to step up, finishing third in [[Round 12]], allied to the winners [[1up]]. After a poor showing in the first half of [[Round 13]], NewDawn merged with [[SiN]] to form [[SiNND]] who finished fifth.

After the severe beating of [[Round 13]], the loss of many members to [[1up]], [[SiN]] joining [[Hydra]] and [[G-II]] de-merging it looked like NewDawn would collapse. However, the loyal core and several new recruits made a strong start with [[Gate]] and [[Flying_So-Low]] running the show. [[The_Fish]] and [[ReligFree]] later joined the HC team as [[Gate]] burned out. NewDawn first engaged the similarly sized [[Reunion]] in a rank war before swelling in size by absorbing members from the collapsed [[InSomnia]], [[Hydra]] and [[Wolfpack]]. At the end of the round, NewDawn were crushed by [[1up]] and their allies [[Reunion]], finishing second.

NewDawn went into [[Round 15]] with yet another HC change; [[Grog]], [[h3ll]], and [[Amon]] joining [[Flying_So-Low]] as HC. [[Grog]]'s political maneuvring let NewDawn reach the top spot, but [[eXilition]], helped by other alliances such as [[Subh]] and [[Vengeance]] were able to obliterate NewDawn's lead. Again, ND finished second.

In [[Round 16]] a new council was set up, constisting out of [[cura]], [[BA]], [[Paddy]] and [[JDD]]. [[Grog]] took the BG [[DLR]] out of tag for the round but despite this loss, NewDawn were still able to compete. [[1up]] defeated [[Subh]] early in the round, but NewDawn joined [[Subh]]'s side and, frustrated by the dominance of XP, [[1up]] began to weaken. The outcome of the war was never decided as [[Ascendancy]] tagged up and took an easy XP win leading to NewDawn surrendering the fight for first, eventually finishing 7th after tidying up its ranks.

[[Round 17]] saw NewDawn ally itself with [[InSomnia]] early on to engage the leaders [[Omen]]. Indecisive leadership and the failure to prosecute a proper war on behalf of both NewDawn and [[InSomnia]] allowed the conflict to become bitter and drag on with no clear resolution. [[1up]] hid a huge amount of score and by the time they tagged up, petty arguments between [[Omen]] and NewDawn/[[InSomnia]] allowed them to stroll to a victory.

NewDawn started [[Round 21]] with only two HC, namely [[Barrow]] and [[cura]]. After losing quite a few members to Conspiracy and WolfPack, NewDawn didn't compete for the #1 position and instead aimed to rebuild for the future.

This rebuilding effort was successful as NewDawn won [[Round 24]] and [[Round 25]], in both cases narrowly beating [[Urwins]] and [[Conspiracy]].
