War On Legion

As you read this post, you will of heard of the cancellation of [[Fury]]'s nap with [[elysium]], and [[Legion]]'s nap with [[WPO]]/[[Ni]]! We have been awaiting this for quite a while, and have taken precautions against it.

It is an honour to announce that [[WPO]]/[[Ni]]!/[[LuX]]/[[ChaZ]]/[[ND]]/[[Virus]]/[[Nos]]/[[Cell]] are all declaring war on [[Legion]], as of 24 hours notice.

This is also coupled with a set of snatch squads set up to take [[roids]] from main [[Legion]] galaxies, and a few of the top 20 will break away and launch with us on [[Legion]].

ALL [[HC]] concerned would like to make it clear that we ARE prepared for a war to the death, and we will be not be continuing to as a group once the war is over. This may be till the end of the round, but we all agree that if we stay as a group after the war, we will just be replacing the alliance which we have banded together to defeat. Alliances as individuals will make there own decisions on allies and there wont be any more
triads.

We would also like to make it clear that this is not due to the aforementioned
cancelling of [[nap]]s, and has been in planning for a while.

Two groups have pulled together, a group set up by [[Forest]], after he
deliberately set up attacks on his [[galaxy]], to get this started, AND a group of [[HC]] who have agreed to get together to effectively make [[PA]] fun again.

What happens now is down to the game. For the first time ever, politics are thrown out the window, propaganda discarded, and with honour and pride we shall fight [[Legion]]. This is down to the best attacks and the best defences, and brute force will prevail.

But one thing is for sure. WE ARE ALL GONNA HAVE SOME FUN.

Might as well start with the bones of it:

As of 24:00 Saturday/00:00 Dunday (CET) all agreements between [[Fury]] and [[Elysium]] will cease. It can be taken as raed that this will be followed shortly there-after by inbound fleets.

Why is this happening? Well we had to start a war with someone to liven the round up. [[Elysium]] were chosen for the following reasons:

1. We have less shared galaxies with [[Ely]] than with any others in the [[WTFVE]] group,
2. With the recent attacks by [[Hirr]] - with many attackers from in [[Fury]] galaxies - we either had to take a large hit to our galaxies by authorising retaliations or take this step,
3. [[Ely]] seemed to be the most popular choice of target amongst our members,
4. We have less historical ties to break with [[Ely]] than with any of the others.

This decision is NOT being taken because we have any particular grudge against [[Ely]], or because we feel they were bad to work with. It's been fun working with them, and had our actual enemies put up a half-decent fight we wouldn't have ended up coming to this stage. I can only hope that [[Ely]] [[HC]] see this move as a step to try to introduce some fun into the game, rather than as back-stabbing.

We're giving 24 hours notice - any [[Fury]] member who attacks or defends vs [[Ely]] before that period has elapsed will lose their [[Fury]] membership permanently.

We are still maintaining our other agreements - meaning that [[Ely]] members in [[Legion]]/[[WPO]]/[[Ni]]/[[Virus]] galaxies will not be targetted until they attack or defend vs [[Fury]]: at which stage standard retal procedures will be followed (they agree to pay a roid fine or become open targets for us).

I'd also ask that there NOT be a rush of other alliances attacking [[Ely]] - we'd like to give them the chance to fight to demonstrate that they are (as I believe) a much better alliance than many people give them credit for. A roid-rush on them by all the other [[WTFVE]] members is not what they deserve.

How does this affect people in [[Fury]] galaxies? If your galaxy has no [[WTFVE]] other than [[Ely]] in, then you can most likely expect inbound at some stage soon - Im expecting my gal news to be red/green (and very long) tomorrow night

Retalatiations will still be granted by [[Fury]] on any [[galaxy]] members of ours who attack/defend vs [[Legion]]/[[WPO]]/[[Ni]] and we'll be asking for [[retals]] on any of their [[galaxy]] who do the same vs us.

The question on everyone's lips will be "Why didn't you attack [[Legion]]?" I guess. The answer is that we have MORE shared galaxies with [[Legion]] than with any other alliance. Civil war in about 40% of our galaxies was not a viable option.

I now look forward to being flamed for back-stabbing by all the same people who had previously been flaming me for not having the guts to fight anyone.

May the war last a bit longer than the one with [[NoCex]].
