A Player called Bartok devised the Wing system in Planetarion.
The Empire was the first alliance to operate a wing and fleet structure as an effective way to cope with the large numbers of planets joining the alliance at the end of round. Originally a Wing consisted of 100 planets and in turn was broken down into 10 Fleets.
The first wings of The Empire were Alpha Wing, The Phantom Fighters, Ultyra Violence and The 181st Imperial Fighters.
