Battle group

Battle groups are small groups of players that attack together and, in some cases, defend eachother. They are usually groups of friends within an alliance and/or block. Some battle groups span blocks and are considered fencesitters.

Before Round 10 Battle Groups often weighed down on alliances, as top players from several alliances formed groups that swore higher loyalty to. Such Battle Groups, seen as leeches by alliance HCs, drained the resources from loyal alliance members and undermined the ability for alliances to wage full-scale wars. The introduction of faster alliance defense ETA reduced the power of such cross-alliance Battle Groups.

Battle groups have largely been replaced by attack groups.

"The new" Battle Groups (sometimes referred to attack groups; however BGs in and after R10 are known to have done both their own attacks and defence) succeeded wings to allow for many of the same benefits of wings; togetherness, efficiency, security and "image"; now, however, strictly within the iron grip of the said alliance and its HCs.
