EXcessum

Originally an alliance formed by QuantumG and daddy inbetween r3 and r4 of planetarion, eXcessum has since developed into a thriving chatting channel on netgamers with many of its members thoroughly addicted.

PA Origins

The exact origins of eXcessum are unsure, and vary from who you get told the story by. It has become increasinly apparent that haz has the most accurate story so here it is in newt's words.

eXcessum was formed by two groups of players - the QuantumG & daddy posses. QuantumG started playing pa in r3 with a few of his real life mates (eg, trigger, newt, and later, JC). After several emphatic failures to make an alliance (notably, amorebaabaa (ABB) and suicide), he joined The Strike Force together with his homies. Also in this alliance were daddy, haz and pommeh. I think haz would like it to be pointed out he was actually hc, and TSF was his first alliance in pa.

One sunny evening, early in 2001, QuantumG racked up some courage and pmed daddy - the result of which was eXcessum being founded as an alliance, with the immediate induction of newt and haz as hc. Other important founding members include JC, pommeh, trigger (iDLEKiD/fluffy), Cheek, appocomaster and serra - with JC and trigger being members of the real life QuantumG posse.

From the very outset, eXcessum's chances of winning r4 were dealt blow after blow by first QuantumG becoming inactive and secondly the presence of two rival factions in its member-base - one led by daddy & pommeh, the other by newt. Although never proved, it is highly suspected even to this day that both Cheek and trigger were unfaithfull to newt during the in-channel wars, playing him for a fool. It should be noted for historical purposes, that newt eventually won when he realised (thanks to appocomaster and serra) that his side had more access to P than the other.

Despite eXcessum quickly reaching 30 members, its future as a PA alliance was doomed and indeed before the end of r4 the alliance disbanded. Both daddy and QuantumG, wearing their hearts on their sleaves, immediately announced their resignations from PA together with pommeh & trigger. As for the other HC, haz went on to achieve fame and not so much fortune as a dedicated NoS member, whereas newt opted to follow in hte footsteps of daddy and become a cunt. JC joined ND with the help of Mooseh, before eventually becoming t&p in r7, his last round of PA before becoming a dedicated forums spammer and as a result a not so dedicated pa team member. Cheek formed formed his own alliance called synaptid which, despite having a few high profile members, never reached the same dizzy heights as eXcessum and quickly disbanded, with him joining WPO as an officer at the end of r5.

It should be mentioned that during the in-channel wars (frequently involving P) and lasting until well after the alliance disbanded, #eXcessum was banned by cservice and so QuantumG lost his ownership. After many failed attempts by newt & co, eventually JC struck gold, reaching the pinacle of anyone's internet life - he became "the channel owner". Squabbles were immediately settled by a 4yr long policy of giving everyone 498 access.

Other notable eXcessum members from that era include Byronious (awesome american geek), clau777 (romanian guy who kept getting girls pregnant), theflyingdutcham (our only top100 member who gave his account to hcs to play with), villageidiot (the alki-prototype), lesbiansmurf (scottish wanker that could code), ... (needs adding to)

The transition from an alliance to a community channel

At the end of round 4, QuantumG (Geoff), newt and JC moved to the same university where their friendship blossomed. Since MSN is rather shit, they continued to use #excessum as a means of chatting to each other online. With daddy quitting IRC, pommeh soon realised he had to change allegiances and accordingly joined the "we-love-newt" bandwagon. Trigger also stayed on IRC, as well as Cheek whom newt and pommeh had grown a special internet-bond with <3. Importantly, several new people joined the channel, one of whom was treelo who, together with trigger, played the part of eXcessum slut to a satisfactorilly high standard, having e-relationships with both JC and newt.

Importantly, several new faces were seen in #excessum during this period - though only carad and Mooseh are worth wasting the effort to talk about. Carad was, in many ways, the wishmaster-prototype. Unfortunately, he decided to go one step to far and chat up Cheek's gf (why the fuck he brought her on irc i'll never know, eh appoco? :() - who then forced the guy off irc. Before that time, #excessum mostly survived on the newt-pommeh-carad conversations lasting till 5am daily.

Perhaps the single most important event in the history of eXcessum also took place during this transition phase - being the induction of Mooseh into the channel. He was also at nottingham university, and by finding newt & jc on IRC he became the first person in #eXcessum who was elite at the internet - with him being both an officer in discordium and a member of TPE, as well as a God at Quake II. His sharp and merciless wit, though revolutionary back in 2001, has now become common place and the foundations upon which #eXcessum is built.

eXcessum slowly became a real life discussion channel for the nottingham university posse, and as such entirely dependent on newt & jc for conversation. A high proportion of the old alliance player-base left the channel in disgust. At the start of 2002 Mooseh's gf decided she didn't want him living with a bunch of geeks - so he decided to live with newt, JC and QuantumG (Geoff) instead.

So anyway, they moved in together - and Mooseh became a different person in #excessum taking much joy in ridiculing and belittling everyone in sight in a not so friendly way. Unfortunately for his eXcessum life span and one of his real life friendships, this involved newt.

By the summer of 2003, mooseh had left netgamers IRC, only to be found on quakenet. Trigger had also become inactive, presumably since being on IRC reminded her of the sordid night when she got it on with newt. QuantumG and daddy were never to be seen again, but #excessum had made a few new recruits...
