Round Summary
The main change from r22 to 23 concerned the return of one of the most dominant alliances in planetarion history, eXilition. eXilition allied pre-round with Volkstaat (or VS) and quickly assembled a large roid and score lead over the other alliances. Despite a widespread consensus that eXilition were the alliance to beat no sufficiently large and competent block was assembled that was able to take them down. Ministry, Destiny and Jenova targetted eX early on and NewDawn joined in slightly later but the lack of genuine co-operation and eXilition's superior activity levels meant that each alliance was dealt heavy losses when they were hit. After a couple of weeks the round was effectively over and the remainder of the round was largely a contest for galaxy and planet ranks.
eXilition had a number of players from the LDK core with eX HC ricka leave following a hit that was organised on the top galaxy, and later on most of the gosu group left as well leading to eXilition knocking their top gal off the #1 spot on the final day of the round. The #1 planet contest for this round, despite being lead by Fenix of Volkstaat by a massive distance for much of the early part of the round, was eventually won by toot of eXilition. Fenix kept his fleet home accidentally versus a large attack on his planet and lost huge numbers of ships in the resulting battle. toot eventually won the round after a large gosu attack on his planet led to him gaining huge amounts of salvage without losing any ships.
