Joining Channels

Most chat on IRC takes place within channels. To join a channel type:

/join #channelname

In any IRC window. If the channel is set +k then the key must be specified in the join commands:

/join #channelname thekey

A channel might also be set +i, or be set +l and have too many clients in the channel. In this case you will need to be invited to the channel before you can join it. In certain instances, if you have logged into P (on irc.netgamers.org) you may be able to Invite yourself through P by typing /msg p invite #channel . If you have 'Auto join on Invite' (an optional setting in mIRC and some other IRC Clients), then you will automatically join the channel. However, you may need to then type /join #channel (which should now permit you to enter). If someone says 'invite yourself into #channel' then this is what are refering to. Note that it required that you are Registered with P and also Logged into P for it to work. Channels of interest may include the Planetarion IRC Channels, the NetGamers IRC Channels, alliance IRC channels as well as channels of anyone you know.
