Missions in Planetarion are Attack, Fake Attack or Defend. They can be ordered from the Missions page in-game. A fleet may be recalled at any time, excepting the short period during which the ticker is active. The return ETA is the same the number of ticks away from the planet the fleet has flown.

Due to a bug returning fleets sometimes get erroneous return ETAs. This most often happens when two fleets land at the same tick.

Defense

A fleet set to defend will attempt to protect its target Planet from any incoming hostile fleets that land on the same tick. If any ships are destroyed in the ensuing combat then defending fleets may gain some salvage.

In organised Alliances, Defence Commanders or other Military Officers will usually organise defense for its members. Some may have Bots on IRC to relay Defense calls to these officers.

Attack

A fleet sent to attack will usually attempt to steal asteroids and/or destroy structures at its target Planet. A fleet must include the appropriate ship types for this to occur. It will also fight any defending ships present the tick it lands.

Fake Attack

A fleet sent to 'fake attack will look to any observer exactly similar to a real attack fleet, but when landing will not partake in combat, instead simply returning to its home planet.

Bash Limit

Only planets bigger than 40% of the attacker's own value, or 60% of its score, may be attacked or fake-attacked.
