First PA World Cup
The first PA World Cup was won by the ANZAC galaxy which consisted of, among others, Kileman, The Unknown, Dingo, Ish, splatpack, Sera and Phillup.
Second PA World Cup
Introduction
The planetarion world cups were organised by the pateam in order to fill in some time between round 17 and round 18 and to also co-incide with the 2006 football world cup. There were two world cups, one which was a 'singles' event with one-man galaxies and of course, a ten man gal event. the galaxy event was split into a qualifying session which is explained below and a finals to declare the winner. These events were played using a different racial split to conventional PA at the time, with a R5 type War/Science split.

Announcement
On Wednesday, 14th of June at 12:00 GMT signups will open for a "World Cup Single Player Skills Event" at http://worldcup.planetarion.com.
It will run from 12:00 GMT on Saturday, 17th June until 12:00 GMT on Sunday, 18th of June.
Details as follows:
-Tick speed will be 1 minute,
-1 man galaxies,
-No ingame alliances,
The winner will recieve "Need for speed most wanted" for the XBox 360, so please make sure you use correct information. :-)
On Wednesday, 21st of June at 12:00 GMT we'll be opening signups for registered teams for the "World Cup Qualifying". At 20:00 GMT we'll be having a 'Creators Hour' Q&A session. We'll also be selecting which cluster contains which group for the World Cup Qualifying.
On Saturday, June 24th at 12:00 GMT, we'll be starting the 24 hour World Cup Qualifying session. The setup will be as follows:
-1 minute ticks,
-10 man galaxies,
-no exiling,
-no in game alliances or cluster bonuses, and
-one "group" as specified below in each cluster.
There will be no way to interact with other clusters, though you can still browse them.
The top 2 teams (galaxies) from each group (cluster) will progress to the final.
The final will be held on the 15th / 16th July, from 12:00 GMT until 12:00GMT. The winning galaxy will recieve 1 credit each, and the highest scoring player in the final will recieve another XBox 360 game - Ridge Racer 6.
To submit a team, please e-mail the following to [email protected] by 21:00GMT on June 20th:
-10 nicknames and e-mail addresses
The e-mail addresses will be used to place you in your galaxies, so PLEASE make sure the correct e-mail address is sent to us.
Each team MUST come from the same area, with the areas being defined as follows:
-UK,
-USA,
-Scandinavia,
-The rest of Europe, and
-The rest of the World.
We will list the teams taking part nearer the time on a special thread on the Planetarion Discussions Forum.
Winners
Singles Event
The World Cup singles event was won by jerome, who finished with 30% more score than the second placed planet, Lukeylove, with Titos finishing third.
Team Event
Galaxies 1:2, 1:5, 1:1, 1:4, 2:4, 2:2, 2:3, 3:1, 3:2, and 3:3 qualified for the Official Planetarion World Cup Final, which was held on the 15th / 16th July.
These were the teams organised by jerome`, Religfree, Caj, Paddy, AUS, tuxed0, Murador, Dauphin, Ionferno and elviz/Wishmaster respectively."
"The Planetarion World Cup Finals finished this weekend, with jerome` winning by a hefty margin and his galaxy of himself, JBG, pig, idimmu, Newt, Benneh, dogbert, Gzambo, Phil and bwtmc also coming first and all galaxy members from the qualifiers and the finals receiving a credit." The members from the qualifiers who didn't play in the final were: Achilles, Alki, Lambie, Game, Lokken and nodrog who made an infamous come back after 15 odd rounds to "win" the qualifying round, these 6 were substituted by jerome` himself who wasn't able to play the qualifying so set-up a near definite win for his galaxy using political means beforehand, otherwise known as blocking, dogbert, gzambo, benneh, bwtmc and phil. Therefore, only jbg, idimmu, newt and pig played both the qualifiers and the finals for the winning gal.
