Round 1 Jonka Attack

I have been quite succesfull in grabbing roids lately (I got 330 last night). So I`ll explain here how I do it for the benefit of my concordium allies. It is called the "Jonka-attack" because Jonka was the first to experiment with it. Find a target with at most half your score and a lot of roids (have a meditative session with Raidbot if necessary). Send one fleet with a lot of firepower and one fleet with a lot of apods at your target. The enemy is preferably online. Most targets run away with their fleet before your attack hits. You blow up target`s PDS and withdraw your gunfleet after the first combattick. This leaves your apodfleet free to grab roids for the remaining ticks while the enemy fleet is away. The amount of roids you get depends on the score-ratio. Enemy uses the score of his total fleet + PDS, while you use the score of your total attacking fleet. Score of ships depend on invested resources: ((metal*1) + (crystal*2) + (Eonium*3))/10

This means a dd (30k metal + 10K crystal + 2.5 K eo) is worth (30K + 2*10K + 3*2.5K)/10 = (30K +20K+7.5K)/10 =5750 points, while an apod (1k metal + 3k crystal) is worth 700 points. The number of roids you can steal is ([enemy score]/[your score])*10% with a maximum of 20 %. If scores are equal, you`ll get 10 % of his roids, if your attacking fleet is half as big in score, you`ll get the maximum of 20 %. That is why the withdrawal of the gunfleet is so effective in raising the number of roids you grab. You calculate the maximum number of roids you can grab in one tick, and add holo`s according to ratio. 100 roids and 500 holo`s, 20% ratio means you can attack 20 roids and 100 holo`s. But the holo`s die first, that means that if you hit less than 100 in this example, you`ll only kill holo`s but get no roids. Make sure you have enough apods, or add some warvessels to your apodfleet to lower your ratio. Apods have a 30 % chance to hit. So you need 1/.30 times the number of apods in your apodfleet. This means that you need (.20/.30)*(enemy roids+enemy holo`s)=

2/3 (enemy roids+holo`s) apods

to grab the full 20% of roids per tick. If you dont have enough apods, lower the ratio until you do. You DONT want to destroy the enemy fleet. You want him to run away so he still has a fleet to give you a good ratio. The enemy fleet also mustn`t be too small. This trick is also useable against players who have send away their whole fleet and then go offline for a long while. To increase the effectiveness of the attack, you can launch a small fleet (e.g. a few fighters) 2 ticks after the apodfleet. There is a short period between the movement-tick that makes this last fleet arrive in the targetsector, and the combat tick. In this short period you can move the apods from the first apodfleet into your new fleet, so you`ll have 2 additional ticks to grab roids. Make sure to use plenty of scans shortly before you hit to determine if he really runs, or if he`s getting reinforcements. If somebody else does also launch at your target, mil.wave him to see if he attacks or defends or has withdrawn again. Also watch out for players who send away their fleet for one tick, only to arrive back in the middle of your undefended apods. If it doesnt worsen the ratio too much, you can add a small number of dd`s to your apodfleet (or transfer them from your gunfleet in the targetsector) to wipe out newly produced enemy units (if any). If you cant be online at the moment the fleets hit, and you expect no trouble, you can send your attack fleet on "attack 1 hour" and your apodfleet on "attack 3 hours". There`s no way the enemy can see how long your fleets attack. He may think they both attack three hours.

The Funky Chicken

The Funky Chicken is a somewhat effective defense against the Jonka-attack. After the movement-tick but before the combat-tick you send your fleet away, and return it right after the combat tick. This way you avoid fighting, but keep your fleet at home. This forces the enemy to keep his gunfleet to protect the apodfleet. If he`s twice as big as you, he`ll get only 5% of your roids instead of 20% (20% if his apodfleet has at most half the points of your fleet)
