In PAX, resources are used to buy anything from ships to structures to waves. There are three types of resources:
- Metal
- Crystal
- Eonium
You collect resources from the following:
- Any asteroids you have. Each 'roid produces 250 units per tick.
- Any Refinery-type structures. There are Refineries for each resource type. They produce 1000 of that resource per tick.
- The Core Extraction technology branch
Also, there are bonuses that will increase your resource production:
- Engineering: Setting Mining as an engineering priority increases your production of all 3 resources. 1st priority gives you a 15% bonus, 2nd priority is 10% and 3rd priority is 5%.
- Finance Centres: Finance Centres are a type of structure. Each one you have increases your bonus by half a percent.
- Golden Roids: If you have the Metal, Crystal or Eonium Golden Roid, you get a 5% bonus for production of that resource.
Finally, you can gain resources thru the 'Hacking: Resource Transfers' covert operation.
From Round 2 up to and including Round 9.5 Eonium was spent as fuel when launching ships. Now, Eonium is a regular resource.
Terran ships use primarily metal, on a 4:3:3 ratio. Cathaar ships use primariliy crystal, on a 3:4:3 ratio. Zikonian ships use primarily eonium, on a 3:3:4 ratio. Xandathrii ships use an equal proportion of resources. Eitraides ships use a roughly equal proportion of resources, depending on what race the type of ship they are building belongs to.
Also, there is a page in game called 'Mining' where players can Initiate asteroids, Donate Resources to the Galactic Fund, and trade resources.
