Lokken is a retired player and is a former moderator of the Alliance Discussions forum. In-game his most notable contributions have been as HC of BlueTuba and Deus Ex Machina. He has also been a member of Legion, Wrath, RaH, NewDawn and up to his retirement was Ascendancy.

Profile

Having started out in BlueTuba and worked on co-ordinating defence and politics, Lokken has typically built planets on strong defence, team play and avoiding making mistakes, often at the cost of his own planet score. While he has made major contributions defensively and politically to his alliances, he has only finished top 100 on five occasions. He has also regularly taken political positions against political and military stagnation. He is well known as charming, enigmatic and softly spoken.

BlueTuba

After playing round 1, Lokken became involved in the alliance BlueTuba, having been recruited by his GC Patrician. Together they soon became partners and built up a formidable friendship in helping to salvage what was left of the alliance following its total defeat in Round 2 after they were both invited to take command positions. His first act in BlueTuba was notably to cut the membership by 90% from 1000 to 100, to remove the large contingency of inactives and spies within the alliance.

With his alliance's reputation in tatters he set up a junior wing of Bluetuba called Sith, which was led by DarkJedi, which led to several new players being introduced to the game, with some such as QueenDax eventually making the senior ranks of the alliance. By instilling a strong sense of community and placing a strong emphasis on defence, BlueTuba were able to go beyond being a newbie alliance and soon reached a level where they could make political deals. In round 4, he was one the major engineers of the SQRL pact involving BlueTuba and Fury members in parallel 7 involving the Se7eN parallel alliance based there with Zhil and Meth. This was an alliance based on obtaining security for Tuba and Fury members in that region of the universe, mainly founded on the basis of 25% of BlueTuba's membership being based there. In round 5 he continued to run BlueTuba until their eventual dissolution due to the feeling that the alliance was becoming too regimented and losing its unique character due to the intense blocking and resulting loss of members to the top tier alliances of Xanadu, Legion and Fury.

Following this he spent a short stint in Legion as part of VtS, however finding the alliance not to his liking, he quickly left.

Deus Ex Machina

However, his relationship with the Tubas did not simply stop on its dissolution. In round 6 in liege with Patrician and QueenDax he took several Tuba members with him to form the alliance Deus Ex Machina who were founded on a basis to counter stagnation that had resulted from round 5 with Rob, AlbinoSqrl, Jester and Agamemnon. It is in round 6 where Lokken enjoyed his greatest success, helping to lead Deus as part of the FoS block to victory against the Fury based block (FLVT) and the Xanadu based block (Xeta). As one of the HC, he was chiefly responsible for co-ordinating defence for the entire alliance, using his experience from BlueTuba to provide some solidity to an alliance more famous for its audacious attacks led by Agamemnon. He also led the alliance's forum operation, ensuring that the alliance remained popular for the entire round to assist its political position and its aim of avoiding stagnation. This involved ensuring Deus members broadly kept to the same line of arguments, ensuring that any criticism of the alliance was quickly addressed and deliberately deploying individuals such as fatboydave to provoke Deus' opponents to make ridiculous statements that could be easily put down.

After Deus dissolution, Lokken stopped working in command roles, with round 6 having taken its toll.

Hiatus and NewDawn

Content with being a member of Wrath in round 7 as part of the SQRL galaxy, a RaH member in round 9.5 after a late start. He has also played in rounds 11 and 12 as an Officer within ND, providing them with his experience. In round 12 he achieved his highest planet ranking, that being a mere 34th.

He sat out Round 13 for the most part, and in Round 14 returned to ND, as an advisor to the HC and has continued during Round 15. He also made a return in Round 19.

Ascendancy

Since round 16, Lokken has been part of Ascendancy, strongly believing in their philosophy of individual freedom, responsibility, personality, fluid politics and team play. While in Ascendancy, Lokken played in relative semi-retirement, building small, solid planets and contributing his political knowledge and experience when required. Following Ascendancy's seventh victory in round 33, he has stopped playing and has since stood down as moderator of Alliance Discussions,
